Candle Care
A few small habits make your candle burn longer, cleaner, and more beautifully. Here's how to get the most from every pour.
The first burn matters most
On the first light, let the wax melt all the way to the edges of the vessel β about 2β3 hours. Candles have a memory; this prevents tunnelling and gives you an even burn for the life of the candle.
Trim the wick every time
Before each burn, trim the cotton wick to about ΒΌ inch (5mm). A trimmed wick burns cleaner, brighter, and soot-free, and makes your candle last noticeably longer.
Burn in sessions
Enjoy your candle for no more than 3β4 hours at a time. Longer than that and the wick can mushroom and the vessel can overheat. Let it cool fully before relighting.
Mind the surroundings
Burn on a heat-safe, level surface away from drafts, fans, and anything flammable. Drafts cause uneven burns and excess smoke. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Know when to stop
Stop burning when about Β½ inch (1cm) of wax remains. Burning past this can damage the vessel and isn't safe.
Give the vessel a second life
Once finished, warm the leftover wax, wipe it clean, and the vessel becomes a beautiful holder for matches, brushes, or a little greenery.
Safety first
Never leave a burning candle unattended, keep away from children and pets, and don't burn near anything that can catch fire. Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
